The Edinburgh Singers bring their 2025–2026 season to a triumphant close with an unforgettable evening of choral music in the magnificent setting of Greyfriars Kirk. The performance juxtaposes two magnificent masterpieces — Bach’s Magnificat and John Rutter’s Magnificat. Separated by over 250 years, the two Magnificats offer strikingly different yet complementary interpretations of the same timeless text: Bach’s setting dazzles with Baroque brilliance and dramatic intensity, while Rutter’s vibrant and lyrical work glows with warmth, rhythmic vitality, and contemporary colour.
Under the direction of conductor Alistair Digges, the choir will be joined by an outstanding quartet of professional soloists: Soprano Catriona Hewitson, Mezzo-Soprano Katherine Aitken, Tenor Tyler Newton, and Baritone Andrew McTaggart.
With the support of the specially assembled Edinburgh Singers Sinfonia featuring many of Scotland's leading professional musicians, this promises to be an unmissable night of music.
Tickets £18 (concessions £14), under 12s free but ticket required.
